Christopher McQuarrie's MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: ROGUE NATION
This is a great summer movie and I think this matches and in some ways exceeds the recent Bond films. But let’s not get too serious here. This is a popcorn film of the highest order. We have learned to expect no less from that crazy guy Cruise.
Doug Liman's EDGE OF TOMORROW
I was unprepared for how really good this movie is.
Christopher McQuarrie's JACK REACHER
Jack Reacher is another solid action film from Tom Cruise. It is well-written, tightly paced, and it has excellent photography and editing. Night-time photography is extremely well done with bright colors and clarity throughout.
Joseph Kosinski's “OBLIVION”
Great popcorn movie. Really enjoyed it. Terrific visuals, interesting variations on familiar themes.
Brad Bird's MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL
What a big, fun, goofy, and exciting film this is!
Steven Spielberg's MINORITY REPORT
This movie expands upon the dazzling realistic-future-world special effects of Spielberg’s A.I. but wastes astonishing technical and artistic virtuosity on a hackneyed, uninvolving murder mystery.
OK, let me put my cards on the table:
1. Sometimes I like big, dumb action movies.
2. I like Tom Cruise (War of the Worlds).
3. I don’t watch Oprah.
That said, I enjoyed Mission Impossible III a great deal. I’d put it right up there with other big, dumb action movies I actually enjoy, films like Independence Day and Armageddon.

This movie gave me nightmares.
Michael Mann's "COLLATERAL"
COLLATERAL is a smashing example of how to take a standard story line and turn it into a fresh, provocative, exciting, and even at times, beautiful tale of violence and self-revelation.
