Sentimental and fantastical even by Bollywood standards, this engaging melodrama follows star-crossed Indian (Shahrukh Khan) and Pakistani (Preity Zinta) lovers over a two-decade span. The colors and idyllic village scenes have to be seen to be believed, and the nearly-submerged betrothal ceremony is worth the price of admission.
