Tony Scott's “THE TAKING OF PELHAM 123”
This is an enjoyable Summer action vehicle that’s held together by Scott’s taught action direction, witty dialog, and effective performances by Washington, Travolta, and Gandolfini.
High speed chases through the streets of New York City are a bit old hat by now, so I’m a bit surprised they received so much attention in the film. But I enjoyed the down and gritty view of NYC and the effective rendering of its hustle and bustle.
A solid “B.” It did make me yearn for a decent Bruce Willis movie, though.
