Christopher Nolan's "INCEPTION"
Movie review by Dennis D. McDonald
I upgraded a $5 DVD of INCEPTION to a streaming HD version via VUDU and watched the movie again last night. The visuals and performances are still impressive and the convoluted dream-within-a-dream story more straightforward than I remember seeing in the theater.
And yet, I was left unsatisfied at the end. It's clever, no doubt, and gorgeously crafted. But it's basically a puzzle picture, not unlike KNIVES OUT but without the humor.
Sure, individual sequences still dazzle but I had the sense of just one too many chase or fight scenes strung together as we watched Our Hero plumb the depths of his subconscious guilt.
As far as Nolan's movies are concerned I much prefer INTERSTELLAR (https://www.ddmcd.com/movies/christopher-nolans-interstellar.html ) not only for its amazing production values and visuals but its emotionally engaging story.
