This is a good, but not great, popcorn movie. A quick review:
- Loud, dumb, too long, and boring in spots.
- Poorly edited action sequences.
- Unappealing characters.
- Stereotypical Americans, Europeans, and Africans.
- Bizarre mix of humor, fun, and sadistic cruelty.
- Nice color photography.
- Great opening sequence with a Conferederate Ironclad in a night-time attack.
