Why I Changed the Name of My Blog
I've changed the name of my blog from "All Kind Food" to "Dennis McDonald's Blog." This has not required the change in any URL's so all my existing links and feed addresses remain the same (I think). The link to the home page is here.
The physical aspects of the change went smoothly. All I did was change the embedded text in the banner image that's displayed at the top of the page and all the references to "All Kind Food" in various section headers that occurred throughout the blog and in the feeds. I have not changed article titles that include "All Kind Food" such as Who Reads ALL KIND FOOD? - Part 3.
When I started the blog years ago I actively tried to create posts on many different professional and personal topics, including movie and book reviews as well as personal experiences. The "All Kind Food" title was based on a pleasant restaurant-related personal memory my wife and I shared. I chose it because it was quirky and (I thought) it communicated the concepts of variety and eclecticism.
As life has become more busy, I have gradually focused more of my writing and podcasting on professional areas related directly to my consulting, research, and professional interests:
- Planning and managing the use of technology, social media and social networking.
- Innovation, project management, emergency communications, and strategic planning.
- Professional communications, associations, and content management.
- Copyright and intellectual property rights.
So even though I like the title "All Kind Food," it now may strike some as "cute." So I decided to change it.
