iTunes and FRANK SINATRA

Heaven help, me, I just made my first iTunes purchase -- a Frank
Sinatra/Tommy Dorsey album I've had my eye on for some time.

It contains these songs:

  • Imagination
  • Night and Day
  • I'll Never Smile Again
  • Blue Skies
  • The One I Love (Belongs to Somebody Else)
  • Fools Rush In (Where Angels Fear to Tread)
  • Stardust
  • In the Blue of Evening
  • Polka Dots and Moonbeams
  • Without a Song
  • This Love of Mine
  • I Think of You
  • Once In a While
  • How Am I to Know?
  • The Sky Fell Down

I also purchased two other songs, versions of one of my favorites,
"Love for Sale."  One version is by Barbara Montgomery, the other
by Artie Shaw (may he rest in peace). In my opinion, the greatest
version of this song is by Ella Fitzgerald, but I am open to other
versions as well.

This was an impulse purchase. I had received an email from Apple and saw a
Frank Sinatra album listed as one of their recent Tunes  additions. I'm currently  creating some play lists of dance music (initially, Fox Trot,
Rumba, and Waltz) so the Sinatra/Dorsey album caught my attention.

Within minutes I had received an email acknowledgement from Apple of the purchase. I noticed, however, that the indexing information downloaded with the Montgomery version of "Love for Sale" contained a misspelling of her first name; this is an issue I have with iTunes indexing, especially with Classical and older albums.

So here I have an album that consists of songs recorded in the 40's that
were initially issued on 78 RPM platters in big, heavy folders and
envelopes. Probably everyone associated with the creation of these
performances is dead. Now the songs in digital form are sitting on the
hard drive of my laptop, and I'm considering burning  them to CD
so I can dance with my wife.

How cool is that!
